SMILE Summer Camp Expands to Katy, TX

We’re excited to announce that SMILE Summer Camp is expanding to a second location in the Greater Houston area—Katy, TX! Starting this summer, camp sessions will run four days a week, and we anticipate a more than 50% increase in the number of campers with special needs. To support this growth, HCO is actively recruiting and training youth volunteers, including hosting weekly curriculum development sessions.

We are also continuing our popular bucket drumming classes in collaboration with GiGi’s Playhouse Sugar Land, beginning June 5th.

In a forward-looking initiative led by HCO Vice President Andy Shi, a team of dedicated volunteers is working on AI-powered tools to serve the special needs community. Projects include an interactive chatbot for the HCO website and AI-assisted teaching applications.
